Hello everyone!

Date: 29th Apr 2020 @ 9:19am

Good morning everyone,

I hope that you are all well and taking care of each other. I am really impressed to see and hear about all the work and other activities you have been completing. I am trying to phone every child in school, but still have quite a number to go. Some have suggested that I may talk too much, hard to imagine I know!

These are very difficult times and I realise how frustrating it is to support your children at home, whilst balancing all the other work and jobs you have to do. I am really aware of the mental stress that this lockdown is causing. From talking to parents as well as children, it has been possible for me to hear about the difficulties and changes which you have had to make to your daily lives. However, the overwhelming response that I have heard is of families spending more time together, slowing of the pace of life, valuing our gardens and how fortunate we are to have supportive friends and family, communities thinking of others, and so much more.

I have been taking part in webcasts and zoom meetings with other schools and colleagues. One consisted of 121 school leaders who were all asking the same questions we ourselves have: school openings, how things will work, etc. There is a strong feeling of schools needing to focus upon building friendships and relationships once we open (however the government decides to do that) putting children's emotional and social needs first.

This, as everyone knows, is an unprecedented time in our lives and families; hopefully our children, parents and staff will continue to come together and communicate in different ways to maintain our fantastic school community whilst we are apart, and we look forward to when we start to come back together.

Take care of each other, and I can't wait to see you all again soon.

Mr Hudson
