The Stone Age

Today, we started our new topic The Stone Age to the Iron Age. Our stimulus was an outdoor lessons discussing how life might have been over 2 million years ago.  Gathered in a circle in the woods, the children explored what they already know about this time, including what this era was known as, how people lived, dressed, ate and how it differed from life today. I was very impressed by their knowledge and we also discussed questions that we would like to answer over the next few weeks.

At the end of the session, the children made a campfire and we talked about how this would have been used to provide warmth, light and to cook food. The class were very enthusiastic and we returned to class, eager to record their ideas. Tomorrow, we will look at our new books about the Stone Age and explore the new artefacts.
