Class 2 week 2

Date: 15th Sep 2023 @ 12:31pm

The children have all settled extremely well. We have been really enthused about the Roman topic and the children impressed with their knowledge. It was wonderful, to observe how much the children had retained from last year. They really were fantastic.  We have explored who the Romans were and where they came from. Understanding the differences between cities, countries and continents and linking to our Geography work. We have learnt a two new Roman songs, one in our History work and one in music, where we are learning about motifs, repeated patterns in pieces of music.

The children were surprised to find lost of golden sentences in our classroom one morning. After lots of detective work, we decided that they were happy endings from familiar fairy tales. It appears that they have been lost and we are now exploring just how it happened through our class text- The Lost Happy Endings. This has resulted in lots of amazing descriptive writing.

In Maths, the children have completed number patterns such as counting in 50's and 25's and continuing to learn their relevant times table in lots of fun ways. We have explored place value, discussing one more, ten more and one hundred more and partioning numbers up to 1000.

The children have also played cricket, drawn a roman soldier and explored forces through a range of activities, starting to understand the differences between the three forces, push, pull and twist.

They may need a big rest this weekend, ready for another exciting week of learning.
