At the heart of everything we do is a personalised approach to each unique individual within our Christian community. Welcome to Class 1
Our aim is to ensure that the children experience a happy and smooth transition from the Foundation Stage into Key Stage One. Our curriculum builds upon and extends the experiences the children have enjoyed in Reception, providing opportunities for them to develop their skills, knowledge and independence.
Learning through play will continue to be an important part of the school day, with continuous provision remaining central to our approach. As the year progresses, the children will gradually be introduced to more formal learning, ensuring they remain motivated, enthusiastic and eager to learn.
We will be exploring the following areas together this term:
Maths – Number: place value within 20 and Shape
Literacy – Ready Steady Write The Bog Baby, Ready Steady Phonics, Ready Steady Spell
History – How did Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole influence the way nurses do their job today?
RE – What do people of faith believe about God as Creator?
PSHE – Connecting with others: How can I help myself and others feel happy and safe?
Science – Seasonal Change Autumn and Winter, Living things and their habitats
Art – Texture and tone
Design Technology – Sewing
Music – Dymanics
PE – Fitness and Tag Rugby, ball skills
Computing – Digital Literacy
A few important reminders
Spelling tests will take place every Friday.
Our scheduled PE days are Monday and Friday. We ask that PE kits remain in school throughout the week.
Forest School will take place on Friday. Children can come to school in their own clothes and should bring suitable clothing for outdoor learning, including wellies and waterproofs. Please ensure that all clothing and belongings are clearly labelled.
Reading books must be in school on Monday so that they can be checked and changed.
