Friday 23th October

Wow we made it!!

A huge well done to all the children (and parents) involved in Class One, we made it after 8 weeks.

Parents evening books are now open and will be in 10 min slots on

Thursday 5th Nov 1-3pm and 4pm onwards

and Thursday 12th November 4pm onwards

Thank you for all your hard work and support in making sure the children come to school and are ready to learn. After half term we will be learning about toys. In 'normal' days I would of invited parents in to talk about any toys they had as a child, but if you have any old toys could you please post a photo on Google Classroom and we can explore it as a class.

Many thanks Ms Pickering x

Another busy week, the children have been writing their own stories this week. They have tried really hard to use noun phrases and my favourite word 'dazzling'

We have been busy learning number bonds to 10,20 and 100. Please keep practicing these whenever you can.

We are moving onto addition of 1 and 2 digit numbers.

Year 2- Please can you all log into Google Classroom and check you can access the homework.

Any problems please let me know.

Many thanks smiley

Monday 13th July

Good morning Class1 - we have reached the final week of what has been a very unusual school year!  One I hope is never to be repeated.  I was thinking about you all last night and how sad I feel that we never got to finish the year together.   Prior to lockdown (and I'm sure during lockdown) you were all doing so well and working so hard.  You were such a fabulous class and we have all enjoyed teaching you.  I am also sad as I am going to be leaving Class 1 and I am heading back to Class 3.  However, I know get the chance to work with you all again when you get into Year 4.  Thank you for all being so amazing and giving me a wonderful 18 months as a teacher in Class 1.

This week I have stopped the lists of activities for maths and literacy and have given you a list of fun activities to do.  Traditionally in the last week of term we begin to wind down and celebrate our time together.  I have tried to give you some fun activities that you can do.  Obviously we can't have our end of term party or movie afternoon but you could have one at home.  Teach Your Monster to Read is still available and free to you all and will be available all summer.

Take care over the summer and enjoy your holiday and rest (parent's too!)  Hopefully we will all meet up back in school in September.

Monday 6th July

Hi Class 1 - how are you all?  I hope those of you who returned to school this week enjoyed yourselves and are looking forward to going back again.  I bet you enjoyed seeing each other again as it has been over 100 days sine we were last together.  I can't believe it is July already and nearly the end of the school year and what a strange year it has been.

Yesterday was the NHS's 72nd birthday.  Did you all go outside at 5pm and give them a big cheer and clap?  They have definitely deserved it over these last few months.  I have always appreciated the work of the NHS heroes but I appreciate them even more so now.  I went outside to clap with Jacob but our dog is terrified by it all so Mr Tench had to stay inside and keep her calm.

Today is national children's art day.  I think that that is the best excuse for getting those art and creative bits out and spending the whole day creating fantastic pieces of art.

Monday 29th June

Hello Class 1

I hope you enjoyed the fabulous sunshine last week as well as the work I set for you.  You are all doing so well and I'm very proud of all your efforts. This week I saw some fantastic work from Elsie in the scrapbook.  Very impressive Elsie you are working so hard.  Please remember to share some of the work you are doing.   I forgot to upload the twinkl lessons last week.  I have to say doing four different year groups of work is confusing me slightly so I can only apologise if you tried to access any of the hub activities.  This week for phonics, we are going to be using a new website called Teach your Monster to Read. If you follow this link https://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com/u/5970054 it should take you to the website and the log in page.  At the moment there are no passwords set up for ease of access.  If you would like me to assign a password to your child then please let me know.

Did any of you set up any sports activities for national school sports at home week?  Make sure you send any pictures if you did.

The weeks seem to be flying by but I am missing you all like crazy.  I know some of you might be heading back into school this week.  Miss Pickering will be there to welcome you and you will have a lovely time back together.  Enjoy yourselves and remember it will be a little different to the school you left in March but you are all incredible and you will soon pick up the new rules.

Take care

Mrs Tench

Monday 22nd June

Morning Class 1 - I hope you all enjoyed the work from last week.  The weather definitely changed from all the lovely sunshine we have had.  I have to say I love a good storm and like watching the lightening and listening to the thunder.  There would have been some good weather work there for Year 1 and your science.  Hopefully the sun will return for us next week.

This week is National School Sports Week at Home.  Unfortunately we can't have our sports day this year but I am looking to see how creative you are at desiging your own sports day.  You could create obstacle courses or run laps of your garden or even set yourself a dancing challenge.  If you click this link https://www.youthsporttrust.org/national-school-sport-week-home you can register with the Youth Sport Trust and receive some great ideas.

It is also National Recycling Week so maybe you could think of ways to recycle more at home too.

It has been lovely to see some work being added to the scrapbook.  Well done Sophia it was lovely to see and read all the work you have been completing at home.  Please try and use it so I can see more wonderful work.

Take care and keep going (only 4 weeks to go!)

Hello Class 1

Things are beginning to change this week as some of you start to head back to school.  As a result I will be taking over all the online learning as Miss Pickering and Mrs Kinsey will be busy in school.  This means the setup will be slightly different.  Instead of all Year 1 and Year 2 work being added separately I will now be putting Year 1 and 2 work together as subjects.  You will see a maths file, Literacy file, phonics and science file.  I will also make sure they are dated for each week to make it easier for you to locate.

The files section had become a little overcrowded so I have removed some of the files we no longer need.  I have really enjoyed receiving work from some of you and seeing how well you have been getting on.  I've had fabulous poem performances, beautiful handwriting, letters telling me all about your time at home and it has been lovely to see Ted and Elsie's work loaded on the scrapbook.  My little boy loves dinosaurs Ted and Elsie your flapjack looked delicious.  It would be lovely if more of you could share what you have been doing with us.  Please use the scrapbook to upload any work you have been doing and I will make sure I log in each day to check if there is anything there.

Some of you have asked for some information on expectations of learning and outcomes.  If you look at the tabs at the top of the page, you will see a section to provide you with this information.

If you would like to access free e-books to help with reading at home, follow this link

Thanks and stay safe
