Dear Parents and Carers, 

We hope you have all had a wonderful, relaxing summer and have enjoyed spending quality time together as a family. 

A very warm welcome back to a new school year! We are all looking forward to welcoming the children back to school and can't wait to hear all about their summer adventures. We have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned for the year ahead and are looking forward to helping every child grow in confidence, develop new skills and enjoy their learning. 

Staffing 

The children will be taught by Mrs Rees, Mrs Knight and Mrs Barlow. Miss Hill will be starting a PGCE course in September and we hope that she will join our team later in the year. Mrs Rees will work predominantly in Class 1 and Mrs Knight will work across the two classes, much like last year. Mrs Barlow will work across both classes supporting all children. 

On Friday mornings, the children will enjoy Forest School with Mr Holland. Nursery and Reception and Class 1 will share the morning. Mr Holland will be supported by Mrs Barlow. For these sessions, children should come to school in their own clothes. Please ensure these are suitable for outdoor learning and the weather conditions. We recommend: 

• Old clothes that you don't mind getting muddy 

• Waterproofs, if possible 

• A warm coat 

• Wellies 

Forest School takes place in all weathers unless conditions are unsafe, so suitable clothing is essential. 

PE 

Class 1 PE days this year will be Monday and Friday. Please ensure that PE kits are in school at all times. On a Friday Nursery and Reception will join in with the PE lesson but do not need a PE kit, please just ensure that the children wear a pair of suitable trainers. 

School Uniform Year One and Two 

A reminder of our school uniform expectations: 

• Red sweatshirt or red cardigan (with or without the school logo) 

• White shirt (or a red and white checked shirt until October half term) 

• Grey and red striped tie 

• Grey or black trousers or shorts 

• Grey or black skirt or pinafore dress (or a red and white summer dress  until October half term) 

• Grey, black or white socks or tights 

• Black, sensible school shoes (Velcro fastenings are perfectly acceptable) 

Nursery and Reception uniform is  the same except that the children wear a red or white polo shirt and no tie. 

Please note that trainers, open-toed sandals and large, thick boots are not considered suitable footwear for school and should not be worn as part of the everyday school uniform. 

A Few Helpful Reminders 

To help everything run smoothly, we would be grateful if you could please remember the following: 

• Please label every item of your child's uniform, PE kit, coat, Forest School clothing, wellies and water bottle. Every year we end up with lots of unnamed jumpers and cardigans in our lost property, making it very difficult to return them to their owners. 

• Children should bring a named water bottle to school every day so they can stay hydrated throughout the day. 

• Breaktime snacks should be healthy. Suitable snacks include fruit, vegetables, cheese, yoghurt or crackers. Please do not send crisps, chocolate or sweets for morning break.
