School Council
School Council:
The School Council is usually made up of ten pupils, from Year Two to Year Six. Each year group has two representatives, who are elected in the autumn term by their classmates.
School Council 2025- 26
This year’s school council has met each half term.
We discussed our values and what we each thought we could bring to the school as a member of the school council.
Ideas included:
“Making the school more eco-friendly. “
“Helping the school be the best it can be.”
“Setting a good example for the younger children and listening and respecting others.”
“Wanting to make a difference. “
Our meetings have been purposeful and productive and some of the older children have also led assemblies where we have shared discussions from our meetings with the wider school community.
This year, the children identified the following ideas to focus on:
Improving our school environment (Some areas look tired or overgrown.)
Children have started a gardening club on a Thursday break time.
The children wanted to improve the appearance of the toilets. They held an art competition, and new pictures were put up. Ideas for a theme were given, and this has been implemented through seaside ornaments.
Repairing or purchasing new equipment
Children had lots of ideas on fundraising, such as a fruit sale and a lemonade stand.
Children were concerned that lunchtime was particularly noisy.
The council led an assembly and asked pupils for their thoughts and ways to tackle the problem. A few ideas were trialled, and a new structure has been put into place.

Over the last two terms, the School Council has been actively involved in developing our Christian Vision across the school. They have written prayers linked to our Christian values such as Friendship and Respect. The older children have also helped to lead the Collective Worship sessions. We are very proud of the maturity and respect the School Councillors have shown this year and how well they have worked together. Next half term we will discuss:
