BBC Bitesize

If you look on the BBC Bitesize pages there are some games that would be useful for phonics and maths. There doesn’t seem to be an specific Reception part to the site (although as you know I’m not the best at technology so I might have missed it!). If you go into the KS1 section there are Phase 2 phonics (initial sounds) and Phase 3 phonics (sounds like sh, ch etc on the list I’ve attached) sessional/games. The words are sounded out and blended as we would in school. There is also a tricky words section at the bottom of the list.

If you go into the maths section Bud’s number garden game is about ordering numbers. The karate game has different levels. The bronze level is the most appropriate but bear in mind that it is aiming at Year 1 children so if your child finds it difficult don’t worry! There are also lessons for different areas of the maths curriculum. Again, bear in mind that they are for Year 1.
